Van'sGuard Band Bio

Van’sGuard is a 7-piece Global Change Music Nonprofit Record Label band. All of the band members live in a sustainable EcoVillage in Southern Arizona. They are conscious activist musicians and their songwriting reflects their lives and vision for the future. Their lyrics speak against injustice and promote sustainable living. Van’sGuard’s music makes you dance and makes you think at the same time.

The band’s main message is the definition of Global Change Music: “Global Change Music lyrics speak of a Spiritualution—Justice to the People, a spiritual revolution (where spirituality means social action, not pious, hypocritical religiosity). The lyrics speak of taking action against any form of those injustices where people are oppressed. Global Change Music promotes sustainable living, which includes growing your own organic food, building green, permaculture, sharing services and goods (trade and barter), and having a protective environmental consciousness. The music itself can be any genre; however, the musicians must live their message of national and international radical changes.”

Three of the musicians were born into the EcoVillage in which they live. DeleVan and SanSkritA, lead singers, are identical twin sisters, but you would never know by looking at them, because their personalities are very different. Their brother, Amadon, is the drummer and percussionist. The twins grew up harmonizing and are very in tune with each other, forming a unique blend of harmony that can only come by singing together for years and years. Both women are songwriters, and their brother, Amadon follows their melodic structures with complementary rhythms, which he has fused with them over the years into a unique style of melody and dynamics. They are artists and professionals at their best.

Three of the musicians came to the EcoVillage as pre-teens (lead guitarist Santee, bass player Kaileen, and trumpet player L’aFar) and one came as a young adult (keyboardist, TaliSeen). The musicians range in age from 21 to 26 and virtually all grew up together. They have been performing all over Arizona for more than a decade.

All of Van’sGuard’s musicians are excellent and have learned to complement the singers without overpowering them. The result is one of the best up-and-coming new bands in the world.
